The Renewable Fuel Standard

Biofuels should be able to gain traction with the new adjustments to the Renewable Fuel Standard which are regulations that mandate gasoline in the U.S. be mixed with a specific quantity of renewable fuel. The ruling statute requires that thirty-six billion gallons of biofuels be manufactured annually by 2022, a huge leap from the seven and a half billion gallons to be manufactured in 2012. In that amount, twenty-one billions gallons  are required to be delivered from sources that minimize gas emissions from greenhouse effects by fifty-percent at least. This is a goal that a lot of biofuels can strive to meet. Although biofuel taxes are not standard and can vary quite a bit from one region to the next, an equilibrium should eventually be found that allows some standardization on which raw materials can be taxed uniformly. This will create some stability and allow the markets to mature. Otherwise, the next flavor of the month biofuel will receive the majority of the grants and tax incentives. Boosting up production of biofuels, like shredding corn stover into shredded corn stover,  is rapidly approaching given the increasing amount of investment and R&D that is growing dramtically.
